In March 2008 the NSW Minister for Education launched  a charitable Foundation to support students education in NSW and appointed a Board of Directors.  The Foundation for Public Education in NSW Ltd is non-profit charity with a Deductible Gift Recipient scholarship fund.

The Foundation recognises that individual students draw support and encouragement from their families, their schools and the broader community. The Foundation’s purpose is to:

• support students to achieve their potential at public schools;
• enhance the value and reputation of public school education;
• target support in ways which build on evidence;
• provide a scholarship fund, with deductible gift recipient tax status, for corporate and community contributions to public education; and
• work in collaboration with schools, communities, business and government to achieve the Foundation’s goals.
