The Cookery Teachers Association Scholarship, has provided me with financial security, to focus on my university studies. This scholarship has allowed me to pay for all my textbooks, extra equipment, subject costs and a laptop. I plan on using some of my scholarship money to further my skills in cake decorating and pastry making in 2020, giving me extra skills to pass on to my future students.
I am currently studying a Bachelor of Teaching/Bachelor of Arts (Technology) at the Australian Catholic University. This course provides me with the qualifications to teach all the technology subjects up to year 8, whilst also allowing me to choose a major to teach at a senior level. This course has a wide range of subjects, many which are very hands on, which I love. My major is food technology, and I’m eager to develop my skills and knowledge in my upcoming second year.
In high school, credit goes to my teacher Mrs Uzun, she inspired me to become a food tech teacher. She was a great encouragement to me in my senior years at Randwick Girls High School, as she always had such a positive classroom culture. I’d like to especially thank and acknowledge Ms Uzun, for nominating me for this scholarship.
I would also like to thank The Public Education Foundation, and it benefactors, for this generous scholarship that I have been fortunate enough to have received.
