Public Education Scholarships: Empowering Indigenous Students

 The GO Foundation and the Public Education Foundation are delighted to announce the scholarship recipients for the inaugural GO – J.B. Fairfax Scholarships and the GO Foundation Scholarships.

All GO Foundation scholarship programs support Indigenous students at public schools in NSW, providing them with a combination of financial assistance, cultural mentoring, leadership training and career support to successfully complete high school and move into further education.

The 2018 recipients of the $5,000 GO – J.B. Fairfax Scholarships are:

  • Coda, Northmead Creative and Performing Arts High School
  • Caellen, Merrylands High School

The 2018 recipients of the $5,000 GO Foundation Scholarships are:

  • Mikaela, Airds High School
  • Jessica, Springwood High School

The 2018 recipients of the $2,500 GO Foundation Scholarships are:

  • Shay, Northmead Creative and Performing Arts High School
  • Kiahn, Byron Bay High School
  • Jared, Campbelltown Performing Arts High School
  • Taleisha, Riverside Girls High School

“We’re delighted to have had a record number of applicants for our 2018 scholarship round, and to be awarding a record amount, over half a million dollars, in scholarships for next year,” said David Hetherington, Executive Director Public Education Foundation.  “We’ve been overwhelmed by the calibre of our applicants and deeply impressed by the spirit they show, as many overcome enormous challenges to succeed at school.  We congratulate all our 2018 scholarship recipients on their awards.”

Michael O’Loughlin, Co-Founder of the GO Foundation said: “The GO Foundation is very proud to be awarding its first public school scholarships through the Public Education Foundation. The first recipients of the GO Scholarships through PEF are aspiring and hard working and we are looking forward to seeing them fly with this support.”

 

The GO Foundation seeks to empower Indigenous youth through education. Founded by Adam Goodes and Michael O’Loughlin in 2009, the GO Foundation continues to expand its Indigenous Scholarship Program to address specific areas of need.

The Public Education Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to providing life-changing scholarships to students and educators in public education, and enhancing the value and reputation of public education.
