Deborah Anscombe recognised for work with refugee students
9 September 2017: Navigating a new school can be a struggle for any student, let alone one who can’t speak English. This is where Wagga High’s English as an additional language teacher Deborah Anscombe steps in. For the last 10 years Mrs Anscombe has been supporting refugee students and students who cannot speak English. Some pupils are coming from schools in other countries while others have never had formal education. Read the story in The Daily Advertiser
Wagga High School student Alex Dennis to receive Minister’s Award
6 September 2016: Having a go at everything has lead to one Wagga High student accepting a top prize. Alex Dennis has will receive the Minister’s Award for student achievement. She is among just 13 students across the state who were recognised. Students must excel in academic, leadership, community service and sport to be nominated. School principal enriched by visit to Harvard University
3 September 2016: Clayton Reedie says school principals hold paradoxical roles: they are placed in schools to lead, but they should never forget that they are actually in a position of service, to their students, staff, local communities and society. Reedie, the principal of Dalmeny Public School, a large K-6 school in Prestons, near Liverpool, is responsible for 85 staff and 1030 students. Read the SMH article here
