The Public Education Foundation is delighted to be working with the Harvard Club of Australia on scholarship programs for school leaders across Australia.

This new program from the Harvard Graduate School of Education (HGSE), Leadership for School Excellence is designed to provide school leaders with the knowledge, leadership strategies and tools to become effective leaders of instructional change and accelerate learning for all students.

The Principals’ Centre in Australia: Leadership for School Excellence will be held at the University of Sydney Business School in Sydney, Australia from January 13 to January 16, 2020. It will provide an opportunity for participants to engage with Harvard course leaders over four days to explore research based techniques and best practices to assist in developing a leadership plan tailored to their home school settings.

Over 50 scholarships are available to enable school leaders from Australian government schools that have high levels of disadvantage or are rural or remote to access to the program. Each scholarship is worth 80% of the tuition costs of the program.

Scholarships will cover the following:

  • $4000 (Aus) of the program tuition fee
  • Over $900 (Aus) worth of accommodation with breakfast included at Graduate House, St Pauls College
  • In addition some applicants will be eligible for a travel stipend

The final date for consideration for a scholarship is a submitted application on the Harvard website by September 30, 2019. Please not that the next selection date for scholarships will be those admitted by 31 August, 2019.

Applications for the course are now open. Further information about the Principals’ Centre in Australia, can be found at the Harvard Graduate School of Education website. The Principals’ Centre in Australia: Leadership for School Excellence Program is building on the success of the HCA Education scholarship where, in partnership with the Public Education Foundation and Teachers Mutual Bank, the HCA has supported over 25 public school principals from around Australia to attended a leadership course at Harvard over the past 5 years.

The Public Education Foundation is one of the not-for-profits that will make scholarship funding available to eligible applicants.
