Why A Good Public Education System Matters in Modern Australia”

The Public Education Foundation has a critical role to play in advancing the value and reputation of public education by actively advocating for the sector and celebrating excellence and achievement within it.

The Public Education Foundation Essay Competition is open to NSW year 11 students who attend public schools.  Students need to write a 400 word essay on ‘Why a Good Public Education System Matters in Modern Australia.’

The winning entry will receive a $1,000 scholarship from the Foundation to support their education expenses.

Entries will be judged by members of the Retired Teachers Association and will be assessed on quality of content, originality and format.

Government funded education is responsible for providing the next generation of future workers for Australia and by ensuring the strong development of the public education system, we can safeguard the economic, social prosperity of Australia for many more years to come.

1 August 2017: Essay competition winner celebrates diversity in public schools It is our pleasure to announce that Dymtro Kucheryavyy is the winner of the 2017 Public Education Foundation’s Essay Competition. Dymtro is a year 11 student at Lucas Heights Community School.
