The Public Education Foundation’s Una May Smith Scholarship aims to support Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students to participate in and successfully complete schooling and progress to tertiary education and/or training. The Scholarship supports students from Year 1 through to their tertiary education and has a maximum total value of $54,000.
The scholarship is named in honour of Una May Smith of Coogee. Miss Una May Smith was an Aboriginal woman whose career in education had involvement with La Perouse Public School over a number of years. Miss Smith generously bequeathed part of her estate for the establishment of this scholarship.
Applications for the Una May Smith Scholarship are currently closed and are expected to re-open in Term 3 of 2017 for funding in 2018.
